Reid Patrick Wiemer Obituary

Reid Patrick Wiemer, 7, of Rochester, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, with his mom and dad by his side. Reid was born in Greenfield, Wisconsin on January 18, 2018, he is the son of Ross and Jennifer (née Johnson) Wiemer. Reid loved Jesus with all his heart. He was a very proud member of LifeBridge Church in Burlington. He also loved attending the AWANA program on Wednesday nights at Faith Chapel in Burlington. Reid loved his family deeply. His favorite day was a ‘home day’. Jolene, his younger sister, was his best friend, and they would play for hours together, doing just about everything.

As of December 2024, he was so excited to welcome his newborn baby sister on to the team. He loved sharing meals, playing games, telling stories and laughing with his grandmas, aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to home schooling, Reid was a student at Humble Oak Outdoor Learning, based in East Troy. He was a proud Squirrel (3-7 year-old group) and adored that community. Playing outside with his friends was a perfect spot for him. Rochester Public Library was a place Reid visited weekly. It played a significant role in his passion for learning, and he would often check out 30 books at a time. His imagination and curiosity were limitless. He loved to draw, write stories, finger knit, whittle, record videos, tell jokes, and read books with his mom. Reid was passionate about sports – he loved the Green Bay Packers and was constantly trying to memorize statistics and famous players. Countless hours were spent playing catch, both inside and outside of the house, either with his dad, or happily by himself. Reid was an adventurer; he loved to travel and was able to visit many states; including three national parks, skiing in the Rocky Mountains, and visiting both coasts. He was always willing to try a new food, but his all-time favorite was peanut butter & jelly. In the midst of this tragedy, Reid became an organ donor and directly helped three families with successful organ transplants after his death. Reid is a Superhero.

Reid is survived by his parents; sisters, Jolene and Juliette; grandmas, Denise Wiemer and Sandra Johnson; aunts and uncles, Craig (Megan) Wiemer, Suzanne (Josh) Naker, Ingrid (Nitish) Bangalore, and Aaron (Kristi) Johnson; and cousins, Connor, Madelynn, Logan, Vivian, Gwendolyn, Kathryn, Lucas, Robert, Olivia, and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bob Wiemer and Dr. Howard Johnson.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Burlington Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Rochester Fire and Rescue, Racine County Sheriff’s Office and The Ronald McDonald House. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reid Patrick Wiemer Memorial Fund. Visitation for Reid will be held on Monday, March 3rd, from 2-5pm at Veteran’s Terrace, 589 Milwaukee Ave, Burlington, WI followed by a memorial service starting at 5:30pm at Veteran’s Terrace.
